Do not forget the world is one great family...
Regard Heaven as your father, Earth as your Mother, and all things as your
brothers and sisters...

Man is the maker

Full Moon Information and more
Each full moon has a number of ancient names and
magical meanings a few of which will be included each news letter. Join us
each month for a celebration of this event. This information is gathered
from Jim Maynard’s Pocket Astrologer, 2008 Witches’ Companion and Everyday
Moon Magic by Dorothy Morrison. All of these materials are available at
Enchanted Moments!
April –
Known as the Hare Moon, Pink Moon, or Seed Moon. The tree associated with
this moon is the Willow which brings love, protection and healing.
This is a good time for efforts that involve increased
physical health, productivity, renewed energy, and the removal of obstacles
that keep us from reaching our goals. It is a perfect time performing any
work related to the fey, magical gardening and matters of the heart.
The new moon in April 2008
occurs on Saturday the 5th.

May
– Known as the Flower, Seed or Dyad Moon, the time when the two become one
and all things meet in perfect balance and harmony. The Tree associated with
this moon is the Alder which brings healing and calm.
This moon brings great energy for working on difficult
problems, even those which seem impossible. In addition, this is also a
wonderful time to perform efforts involving matters of fertility, passion,
physical stamina, energy, friendships, prosperity and completion.
The new moon in May 2008
occurs on Monday the 5th.

June
– Known as the Mead or Honey Moon named for the fermented drink made from
honey. It only follows that since Juno is the goddess of marriage and the
full moon is the “Honey Moon” that we see lots of weddings in June followed
by honeymoons. The energy of
this moon provides a perfect time for efforts involving personal
transformation, a positive change of life circumstances, or the total
reinvention of your life or yourself. Because this moon presents a very
fertile time, efforts involving inspiration and creativity come to fruition
quickly.
The new moon in June 2008 occurs on Tuesday the
3rd.
The full moon in June 2008 occurs on Wednesday the 18th.
The new moon, even though it is
not visible in the sky, is still full of energy. It belongs to the Crone and
occurs between the waning and waxing phases of the moon. Many people use
this phase to rest and regenerate while others find the energy useful for
magical studies and divination while still others say it is the best time
for truth discovery. “Nothing surpasses its energy for getting to the heart
of things and seeing them for what they are.”
The waxing Moon (from the New Moon
to the Full Moon) is the ideal time for magic to draw things toward you.
The waning Moon (from the Full
Moon to the New Moon) is a time for study, meditation and little magical
work (except magic designed to banish harmful energies).
The full moon belongs to the
Mother Goddess. And if you are working with the energy of the full moon, it
is considered to be full for the one day before the calendar date and one
day after. The full moon energy can be used for any effort but it is
especially good for difficult or complicated matters. We use it for
healings. Just remember, the energy of the full moon is very powerful. Use
it wisely.

The Sabbats of Spring
from SABBATS by Edain McCoy
Beltane
May Day or the Celtic Beltane occurs on May 1st and is the first fire
festival opposite Samhain on the Wheel of the Year. These were the two most
important Sabbats on the Celtic calendar, marking the beginning and end of
the two recognized seasons, winter and summer. It is a celebration of
fertility and the potency of the earth.
There are many celebratory
traditions associated with May Day. Some are attributed to the
interconnectedness of nature and humans. Some are attributed to the Celts,
Druids, and Romans. Ancient Celts lit bonfires on hills to represent healing
and other virtues. The May Pole is a representation of the tree that had
great power as a deity or later as a place the deity resided. The pole is
decorated with red and white ribbons; the white held by the young men and
the red by the young ladies. The dance around the pole was both circular as
well as spiral. They moved around the pole in two circles, crossing the
ribbons over and over until they became to short. This particular activity
was all about fertility, spring and renewal.
Litha Summer Solstice,
Midsummer or Feast of Litha, is the divine marriage of the goddess and god
and occurs on June 21st. They are at the peak of their power, as the land is
in full bloom and the harvest is expected. The day marks the longest of the
year; the time when the waxing Sun reaches its zenith. This is the
celebration of the longest day of the year. A celebration of the completion
of the cycle started at Yule or Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the
year. Solstice means “standing by the Sun”. From this point on, the Earth
will be withdrawing, preparing for winter again.

Words worth repeating
… “Large trees are conductors of
energy…channeling the universal forces that surround and are a part of this
planet. They are carriers of especially potent vibrations, sentinels of cosmic
energy, transforming the power in an aura of peace. Large trees are essential
for the well-being of the earth. No other can do the job they do. It is no
accident that the Buddha is said to have found enlightenment under a tree. Let
your love go forth to the trees. Give thanks for their creation.”
Dorothy Maclean
The victory of
Christianity over paganism was the greatest psychic revolution in the
history of our culture. By destroying pagan animism, Christianity made it
possible to exploit nature in a mood of indifference to the feelings of
natural objects.
Lynn I. White, Jr., Science, 10 March 1967
"Nature has been for me, as long as I remember, a source of solace,
inspiration, adventure, and delight; a home, a teacher, a companion."
Lorraine Anderson
When we heal the earth, we heal ourselves. ~David Orr
Take care of the earth and she
will take care of you.

There is hope if people will begin to awaken that
spiritual part of themselves, that heartfelt knowledge that we are
